The Elgar Birthplace Museum has a unique and nationally important collection of manuscripts, letters, press cuttings, concert programmes, diaries, recordings, books, personal possessions and memorabilia associated with the life, work and influences of Sir Edward Elgar. It is the largest and most wide-ranging collection of material associated with the composer and a wonderful resource for scholars, performers and anyone interested in Elgar's life and times.
The Research Room is located within the charming 19th-century country cottage where Elgar was born, and overlooks a picturesque Edwardian cottage garden.
Research facilities open by appointment only, Monday to Friday, 11am – 4.30pm (closed 1 – 2pm).

The above charges are payable in addition to the normal Museum admission.
Search fee:
The Museum will undertake research at a charge of £10 per half hour.
Photocopies can be supplied for research purposes only, and only if copying will not cause damage to the item: enquire for charges.
Please contact the Archivist to discuss your requirements and to make an appointment. We require two weeks notice to arrange staffing and organise material.
