Elgar: The Collected Correspondence & Family Diaries
At last the opportunity to explore all aspects of Elgar's life through his letters and the family diaries. Taking as its starting point the five acclaimed but now long out-of-print volumes of correspondence edited by Jerrold Northrop Moore and published by Oxford University Press between 1974 and 1990, this new uniform hardback edition will eventually extend to around 30 volumes, published at approximately 6-monthly intervals.
Previously published volumes will be corrected and thoroughly updated before republication; new volumes of correspondence will follow the style developed by Dr Moore, with chains of correspondence linked by a minimum of explanatory text; and the diaries will be reproduced in full with an accompanying commentary identifying the individuals and events captured in brief in the diary entries.
From Elgar Works, the publishers of the Elgar Complete Edition, the series provides an exhilarating read as well as an essential companion to the Complete Edition. Revisit this page at regular intervals for details of the next volume to be published.
