Loan Boxes

The Elgar Birthplace Museum has a number of boxes available straight from 'Elgar’s attic' for schools to hire and loan.

The boxes come in the form of old suitcases and travelling trunks and contain items Elgar may have known or used in his lifetime.

“An excellent ‘springboard’ for various lessons across the curriculum!”

The school loan boxes come in a variety of themes. Please click on the themes below for a full list of their contents;

Children are able to see and touch the objects (even try them on in some cases!) and learn about the social history of Elgar’s time.

Each loan box contains a teacher’s pack with classroom ideas for lessons and activities, along with pictures, music, and information about the Elgar Birthplace.

A DVD about Elgar’s life and music is included with each school loan box.
